Both Sides, Now

What does a song do but reveal a little of the truth of the singer-songwriter? Both Sides, Now by Joni Mitchell came along as the artist was gaining popularity and chose to reveal herself fully to her fans according to Brad Wheeler in Joni Mitchell: An appreciation of her classic Both Sides, Now.

Mitchell whose music framed my youth becomes for me in later life an example to follow as a true, life-tale teller. Only as I rip off my masks to reveal what is hidden below the surface and expose myself, flaws and all, am I able to touch universal truths from my world.

Are you willing to expose your inner self for the benefit of others?

All I Wanna Do

AIf there’s an anthem for my retirement days, it just might be Sheryl Crow’s All I Wanna Do. None of us knows how many days remain for us. No one is even guaranteed the next moment. Like that man in the song says, “All I wanna do is have a little fun before I die.”

Fun is different for everyone. Fun for me is sharing old and new places, adventures, people that inhabit various episodes of my life story as well as tech tools and inspirations that enable story. How wonderful it is to no longer be asking, “Are we having fun yet?”

What’s fun for you? Are you doing it?

StoryDame embraces the A to Z Blogging Challenge

A2Z-BADGE-0002014-small_zps8300775cSoundtrack is a highly popular, enduring show at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles. The LA Times “Top Pick” improvised show builds comedy from music on audience members’ iPods chosen and shared by DJ Scott Davis.

In April, I, Lynn Ewbank A.K.A. StoryDame, am putting aside our regular post scheduling of Mostly True Confessions, Tools, Inspirations, and the like. For the entire month, I will embrace a genuine mash up experience combining the A to Z Challenge and Soundtrack thought. Brief posts (around 100 words) will be sparked from songs on my personal iPhone! Songs from folk rock to rap to heavy metal will answer the drum beating question,

“What does my music say about me?”

Here’s the calendar for upcoming April posts…
